travelin’ Tuesday: driving trips

We’re back! After a two week hiatus. My husband and I… it was our first. We took a little “couples’ trip.”

We often stay with friends when traveling. But this was our first time traveling with friends. Ourselves and one other couple rented a cabin in Big Bear for the weekend. Well, near Big Bear. Thankfully they were as easy-going as we are, because the cabin was technically on Lake Baldwin. And Lake Baldwin technically isn’t a lake. The map shows blue… but it’s not. It’s entirely a field.

Still, we had a great weekend. Playing games, laughing, hiking. We dipped our toes into the feeling of life-long friendship, discussing futures and careers and families and marriage. Everyone laughed when I projectile sneezed. No one bothered my friend when she brought out a book and began reading before dinner. We even mentioned how it might have been challenging to spend all that time with a different couple. For us, it was natural. It was like that first bite of cake, or a really good first-date with someone who has always been a friend.

Do you travel with friends?
